Albert's Lounge
Biography & Highlights
You'll hear the bass thumping right through the brick before you even spot the neon sign on Broadway Ave. Albert's Lounge isn't trying to hide on this Dormont strip, and the door guy usually just nods you past if you've got your ten bucks ready. Inside, it's dark as hell, smelling like decades of spilled draft and floor wax.
The room is tight, basically just a narrow wooden bar up front and a cramped nook in the back where local indie acts set up their amps on the floor. There's no fancy stage lighting here, just a couple of red bulbs swinging from the ceiling and a bartender who doesn't care about craft cocktails. You order a cheap lager and wedge yourself against the wall because there aren't enough booths to go around.
Sound bounces hard off the low tin ceiling, so bring earplugs if you want to hear anything tomorrow. People actually watch the bands instead of talking over them, which makes the tight crush totally worth it. The back door stays propped open for air, letting in cool city wind right as the final chord rings out.
